Police recovered a stolen Ena Paribahan bus from Mirpur Beribadh early Wednesday after receiving a call to the National Emergency Service 999 reporting its theft from Mohakhali Bus Terminal. Around 4:00am, a caller named Mahfuz contacted 999 and reported that a 40-seat Ena Paribahan bus parked at the terminal under Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station had been stolen. The caller mentioned that the bus's GPS tracker showed it moving along Mirpur Beribadh.

Following the call, 999 immediately alerted the DMP Control Room and Turag and Rupnagar police stations to take necessary action to recover the bus. Rupnagar police later chased and intercepted the bus, with registration Dhaka Metro B 14-7309, about 500 yards north of Panchabati intersection on Mirpur Beribadh.

Two people were arrested from the bus on suspicion of involvement in the theft. The arrested suspects were identified as Md Russell, 21, son of Md Robiullah, a resident of Hingatali in Raipur, Narsingdi, currently residing at Mohakhali Bus Terminal, and Lalchan, 30, son of Nasima Begum, a resident of Paikra in Jhenaigati, Sherpur, currently residing near Alkatra Factory in the Tibet area under Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station.

The 999 call was received by call-taker Constable Sakhawat Hossain, while Police Sub-Inspector Aminul Islam, a 999 dispatcher, maintained continuous communication with the caller and the concerned police stations during the recovery operation. Legal proceedings are underway in connection with the incident.

The National Emergency Service 999 plays a crucial role in handling emergencies and coordinating responses with relevant authorities. This incident highlights the effectiveness of the service in swiftly addressing theft and aiding in the recovery of stolen property. The quick action taken by the police and the cooperation of the 999 service ensured the bus was recovered and the suspects were apprehended.

This event underscores the importance of community vigilance and the use of technology, such as GPS trackers, in preventing and solving crimes. It also demonstrates the efficiency of emergency services in Bangladesh, which are vital for maintaining public safety and order. The successful recovery of the bus and the arrest of the suspects are positive outcomes that reflect well on the collaborative efforts of the public and law enforcement.
