Prime Minister Tareq Rahman arrived in Dalian, China, on June 22, 2026, after concluding a two-day official visit to Malaysia. Accompanied by his wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, the Prime Minister was welcomed at Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport by the Vice Governor of Liaoning Province and the Bangladeshi Ambassador to China.

The Prime Minister and his delegation traveled to the Shangri-La Hotel in a motorcade, where he will stay for two days. Earlier, he departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport on a special flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.

Busy Schedule Ahead

Prime Minister Tareq Rahman will spend two busy days in Dalian before proceeding to Beijing, the capital of China. In Beijing, he will participate in the 17th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum's 'New Champions' (2026 Summer Davos Forum).

This visit marks Prime Minister Tareq Rahman's first to China since assuming office on February 17. Officials highlight the significance of this visit, given the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Bangladesh, termed the 'Golden 50 Years'.

Strengthening Bilateral Ties

The visit aims to continue the momentum of past achievements and chart the future course of bilateral relations. Prime Minister Tareq Rahman is scheduled to return to Bangladesh on June 26.

During his stay in Malaysia, Prime Minister Tareq Rahman held a private meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Additionally, a high-level meeting between the two countries resulted in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and two other agreements.
