Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized 66 Indian yaba tablets and a motorcycle in a special operation near Matiani Bazar in Pirganj upazila of Thakurgaon. The operation, conducted by a patrol team from Danajpur Border Outpost under Dinajpur Battalion (42 BGB), took place at around 9:45pm on Saturday based on intelligence information. The seized items, abandoned approximately 500 yards inside Bangladesh territory near Border Pillar No. 339/8-S, have an estimated value of Tk 119,800. Legal proceedings are underway, and intelligence activities continue to identify and apprehend the drug traders who fled the scene.
The BGB press release stated that the operation was a result of acting on precise intelligence. The area near Matiani Bazar is known for its proximity to the border, making it a potential hotspot for illicit activities including drug trafficking.
