The district unit of Red Crescent in Bagerhat organized a milad and doa mahfil today to commemorate the 82nd birthday of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. The event, aimed at seeking eternal peace for her departed soul, also included prayers for the peace, prosperity, and welfare of the country and its people.

Mahbubur Rahman Tutul, the Secretary of the Bagerhat Red Crescent unit, presided over the program. The proceedings were moderated by Executive Member Hadiuzzaman Hero. Mohammad Mashiur Rahman, a retired government secretary and life member of the unit, attended as the chief guest. Bagerhat District BNP Coordinator MA Salam was present as the special guest.

During the event, special prayers were offered for Begum Khaleda Zia, seeking forgiveness and eternal peace for her soul. The gathering also prayed for the overall well-being and progress of Bangladesh.

Begum Khaleda Zia, a prominent figure in Bangladeshi politics, served as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh for two terms. Her contributions to the nation and her leadership within the BNP have left a lasting impact on the political landscape of the country.

The milad and doa mahfil are traditional Islamic practices involving recitations from the Quran and prayers. These events are often held to seek blessings, commemorate important occasions, and remember departed loved ones.

The Bagerhat Red Crescent, a part of the larger Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, is actively involved in humanitarian efforts and community service. Their initiatives range from disaster relief to health campaigns, aiming to support the welfare of the local population.

This event underscores the significance of commemorating influential figures in Bangladesh's history and the role of community organizations in fostering unity and remembrance. It also highlights the cultural and religious practices that continue to play a vital role in the social fabric of the nation.
