State Minister for Water Resources Forhad Hossain Azad today called for collective efforts, transcending political differences, to improve healthcare services at Panchagarh Modern Sadar Hospital. Speaking at a discussion with the hospital management committee and local stakeholders, Forhad warned of stern action against any individual or organisation seeking to control the hospital's healthcare services through a syndicate for personal or organisational interests.

Forhad highlighted that although a new building has been constructed to replace the old facility, the hospital is still not fully equipped to provide comprehensive healthcare services. He stressed the need for direct government involvement in ensuring proper operation and development of the facility, stating, 'A government hospital cannot be run with personal or organisational funds.'

Referring to allegations of an 'underground syndicate' at the hospital, Forhad assured that no individual or organisation would be allowed to take control of healthcare services for vested interests and warned that appropriate action would be taken against those involved. Speakers at the meeting highlighted shortages of doctors, modern medical equipment, and other essential facilities, noting that many patients were being forced to travel elsewhere for advanced treatment.

Sarjis Alam, chief coordinator of the National Citizen Party (NCP) for the northern region, pointed out that around 40,000 people receive healthcare services from the hospital every month. He emphasized the lack of key diagnostic facilities, including MRI and CT scan machines, which causes additional hardship for patients and their families. 'Despite political differences, we must work together to ensure quality healthcare for the people,' Sarjis said.

The discussion was attended by Deputy Commissioner Shukria Parvin, Police Superintendent Abu Saim, Civil Surgeon Dr Mizanur Rahman, district Jamaat Ameer Maulana Iqbal Hossain, representatives of different political parties, and doctors, among others. The gathering underscored the urgent need for collaborative efforts to address the hospital's deficiencies and improve healthcare services for the community.
