In a significant move to enhance healthcare services, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Aninda Islam Amit announced multiple initiatives to expand healthcare facilities in Jashore. The minister revealed that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has already inaugurated the construction of a 500-bed hospital at Jashore Medical College, with ongoing work expected to complete the project. Additionally, the 250-bed Jashore General Hospital is being upgraded with a full-fledged Coronary Care Unit (CCU), set to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister upon completion.
The State Minister also highlighted plans to expand Jashore Shishu Hospital to provide improved healthcare services for children. He emphasized that these initiatives aim to significantly enhance healthcare services in the Jashore region, ensuring better treatment for the people. Amit made these announcements during the chief guest address at an annual art exhibition at SM Sultan Fine Arts College, organized to mark the 103rd birth anniversary of the renowned artist SM Sultan.
During the event, chaired by Principal Shamim Iqbal, Amit suggested providing land to SM Sultan Fine Arts College at a nominal price if possible. The exhibition was attended by several notable figures, including District BNP President Advocate Syed Saberul Haque Sabu, General Secretary and District Council Administrator Delwar Hossain Khokon, and Jashore Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Mizanur Rahman Khan. Other attendees included District BNP Organising Secretary Engineer Robiul Islam, former executive committee member AK Sharfuddoula Chhotlu, City BNP General Secretary Ehsanul Haque Setu, and Sadar Upazila BNP General Secretary Anjurul Haque Khokon.
The healthcare expansions in Jashore are part of a broader effort by the government to strengthen healthcare infrastructure across the country. By investing in new facilities and upgrading existing ones, the government aims to ensure that citizens receive quality medical treatment.
