On August 13, 2026, Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Hasan Md Shawkat Ali called for heightened professionalism, vigilance, and accountability among officers to maintain law and order. During a monthly crime review meeting for July 2026, Ali highlighted the importance of a proactive approach in tackling drug-related crimes, theft, robbery, extortion, and juvenile gang activities. The commissioner also urged officers to resolve cases swiftly, particularly murders, and to improve the case resolution rate and warrant execution. Additionally, he directed strict action against unfit and unauthorized vehicles to enhance traffic management.

The meeting, chaired by Ali, assessed the performance of various police stations, the current crime situation, and the progress in resolving cases. Senior police officials, including Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) Mohammad Faisal Ahmed and Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) Hossain Mohammad Kabir Bhuiyan, attended the meeting to discuss strategic measures for maintaining public safety and order.

CMP Commissioner Ali stressed the need for effective and prompt police services to ensure public safety. He directed officers to focus on the swift resolution of murder cases and timely action on other complaints. Furthermore, the commissioner called for effective strategies to manage traffic and maintain order on the roads.

The directives come as part of ongoing efforts to enhance public safety and crime prevention in Chattogram, contributing to the overall security and stability of Bangladesh. By focusing on professionalism and vigilance, the CMP aims to address critical issues and improve the quality of life for citizens.
