In a stern directive, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed has emphasized the need for a zero-tolerance policy against drug-related offenses. Speaking at a recent crime review meeting, the commissioner stressed the importance of regular operations to apprehend drug dealers and their associates, while also enhancing intelligence efforts to curb these crimes.
Ahmed specifically instructed officials to ensure that hotels and spa centers in their jurisdictions remain free from illegal activities. He called for immediate action on any reports of such activities, as well as continuous monitoring of these establishments. To address the issue of snatching, the commissioner directed the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit and the Detective Branch (DB) to maintain a 24-hour presence in areas known for such crimes.
The commissioner also highlighted the need for stronger intelligence surveillance, patrols, and targeted operations in crime-prone areas. He urged a coordinated effort to bring offenders to justice, and stressed the importance of thorough investigations, proper evidence collection, and on-site inspections by senior officers at the scene of every reported crime.
