On August 13, a joint delegation of senior journalists from Bangladesh and Nepal visited the Bangladesh embassy in Kathmandu. The delegation, which included prominent figures from both countries' media industries, was led by Bangladeshi journalist Ziaur Rahman. The visit followed the 3rd International Indigenous Language Journalism Conference held in Kathmandu from August 9 to 12.
Bangladesh Ambassador Md Shafiqur Rahman welcomed the delegation and engaged in discussions on various topics, including bilateral relations and the conference's outcomes. The conference, coinciding with World Indigenous Day, emphasized the importance of indigenous languages in journalism and sought to enhance the role of Bangladesh in this field.
The Bangladesh delegation featured Md Abdur Rahman, Secretary General of the SAARC Journalist Forum, Mustaq Ahmed Mubaraqui, Editor of The Daily Bangabani, and several other distinguished journalists. The Nepali representatives included Nripendra Lal Shrestha, President of the National Forum of News Journalists, and other media professionals from Lahana Media and AP1 TV.
The discussions at the embassy focused on strengthening the collaboration between Bangladesh and Nepal in indigenous language journalism. The meeting also highlighted the importance of preserving and promoting indigenous languages through media. The event concluded with a luncheon hosted in honor of the delegation.
