In a special meeting at the Bangladesh Police Auditorium, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ali Hossain Fakir emphasized the importance of maintaining law and order in Dhaka to ensure the safety and security of its diverse population, including foreign diplomats. He urged police officers to work with patriotism and professionalism, highlighting that the stability of the capital is crucial for the entire country.
Call for Enhanced Monitoring and Supervision
The IGP instructed senior officers to strengthen direct monitoring and supervision at the field level to make policing more effective. He stressed that proper supervision and guidance would encourage police personnel to perform their duties with greater confidence and commitment.
Political Neutrality and Professionalism
Fakir emphasized political neutrality and professionalism, reminding officers that their identity remains the same regardless of political affiliations. He highlighted the need for the police to serve the law and the people impartially.
Addressing Growing Challenges
The IGP reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance policy against drugs and pointed out cybercrime, rumors, misinformation, and malicious social media campaigns as growing challenges to public safety. He urged officers to remain vigilant and counter these threats through responsible policing.
Zero Tolerance for Misconduct
Fakir warned that any deliberate misconduct or attempts to serve personal interests would not be tolerated and would result in strict action. He encouraged officers to work in the national interest and for establishing peace.
