On September 18, Dhaka will host the second edition of the Turkish Airlines ActivePulse International Half Marathon at Hatirjheel, with approximately 3,500 runners expected to participate. The event, under the theme 'RUN THE WORLD,' aims to bring the cultures of Bangladesh and Türkiye closer through sports, emphasizing active living.
Turkish Airlines is sponsoring this flagship event by ActivePulse Bangladesh for the second consecutive year, reinforcing its commitment to promoting a healthy lifestyle and strengthening bilateral relations through sports. The event is an AIMS Member Race, and its 21.095-kilometre Half Marathon course is both AIMS Certified and World Athletics Measured.
The launch ceremony was held at a city hotel, with Dr. S. M. Ziauddin Hyder, Special Assistant on Health Affairs to the Prime Minister, attending as the chief guest. Group Captain S M Ragib Samad, Executive Director of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA), was present as a special guest. The event was addressed by Turkish Airlines Country Manager in Bangladesh İslam Güre and ActivePulse Bangladesh Founder and CEO Md Tanvir Hasan.
Over 2,000 runners have already registered for the event, which includes the 21.095-km Half Marathon, a 14.645-km Challenge Run, a 7.321-km FNF Run, and a 1.5-km Fun Run. This initiative not only supports Bangladesh's growing running community but also provides a platform for cultural exchange and friendship between the two nations.
İslam Güre highlighted that the event serves as a bridge to bring people and cultures together, while Md Tanvir Hasan emphasized the importance of such events in promoting a healthy lifestyle and community spirit. The event is expected to draw a diverse group of participants, including both local and international runners.
