In a significant operation, Chattogram district police arrested seven people suspected of involvement in a robbery at an under-construction factory in the Mirsarai Economic Zone. The operation, which lasted 32 hours, led to the recovery of approximately 250 meters of electric cables that were looted during the incident. The arrested individuals are Mehedi Hasan (23), Md. Rakib (21), Sujaul Haque alias Suja Ullah (24), Emdadul Haque alias Emran (28), Mizan Uddin (32), Md. Sakhawat Hossain alias Nahid (24), and Yousuf (26).

The robbery occurred between 2:00 am and 2:45 am on August 8, 2026, when a gang of 10-15 armed robbers targeted the under-construction factory of Bangladesh Auto Industries Limited in the Mirsarai Economic Zone, under the jurisdiction of Jorargonj Police Station. The robbers intimidated the security personnel on duty and made off with three mobile phones, around 250 meters of electric cable, and other valuable items.

Sub-Inspector Abdullah Al Masud of Jorargonj Police Station led the 32-hour operation that culminated in the arrest of the seven suspects. Based on the information provided by the arrestees, the police successfully recovered the stolen electric cables around 4:45 am on the same day.
