Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurated three villages as SDG Villages on August 10, 2026, marking the launch of Bangladesh's first pilot program to accelerate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These villages, located in Dinajpur, Khulna, and Rangamati, are intended to serve as models for alleviating poverty, improving healthcare, and expanding access to clean water and sanitation.

The inauguration took place during the 'National Conference on Navigating Five Year Strategic Framework for Achieving SDGs: Policy, Partnership and Priorities' held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre.
