In an effort to promote environmental awareness and tackle the impacts of climate change, State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Aminul Haque has called on students nationwide to plant trees at their schools, colleges, and homes. The initiative aims to create a greener environment and instill a sense of responsibility among young people regarding climate issues.

Encouraging Green Initiatives

During a tree planting event at Mirpur Girls Ideal Laboratory School and College, Aminul Haque emphasized the importance of immediate action. He noted that the monsoon season provides favorable conditions for tree growth, making this an ideal time for planting. The government plans to maintain records of trees planted by students and supply additional saplings as needed.

Aminul Haque highlighted that the initiative is part of a broader election pledge to plant 250 million trees over the next five years. He urged students, teachers, and guardians to participate actively in tree planting activities, stressing that collective efforts can lead to significant environmental benefits.

The minister also suggested that school authorities should integrate tree planting into the regular curriculum. By encouraging students to plant trees, educational institutions can become more environmentally friendly and serve as models of sustainability.

Climate Change and Environmental Balance

Aminul Haque explained that tree plantation is crucial for maintaining environmental balance and mitigating the effects of climate change. The initiative not only aims to enhance the greenery of schools and colleges but also to foster a culture of environmental stewardship among students.

By planting trees, students can contribute to a larger national goal of increasing the country’s green cover. This initiative is expected to raise awareness about the importance of trees in sustaining ecological health and combating climate change.
