In an effort to restore one of Bogura's most beloved recreational areas, the government has launched a renovation project for Shakpala Park. Originally constructed under the BNP-led government in 2001, the park has fallen into disrepair over the years, becoming a site for drug-related activities. Road Transport and Bridges Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam marked the beginning of the renovation with a foundation stone ceremony. The initiative aims to rejuvenate the park, making it a safe and enjoyable space for local residents once again.
The park, which was initially built under the leadership of Tarique Rahman, then a BNP Joint Secretary General and now the Prime Minister, has long been a central feature of Bogura. Despite its historical significance, the park suffered from neglect, leading to its decline. The government’s move to renovate the park is expected to restore its former glory and bring back its role as a community hub.
At the ceremony, State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam, along with Bogura District BNP President Rezaul Karim Badsha, MP, and acting General Secretary Mosharraf Hossain, MP, were present to support the initiative. The renovation project is part of broader efforts to improve public spaces across the country, enhancing the quality of life for citizens.
