Approximately 100 passengers from the Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight disrupted on the Toronto-Rome-Dhaka route are being accommodated in hotels in Rome, with additional passengers waiting at the airport lounge. Special care has been prioritized for the sick, elderly, women, and children, according to the State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism.
Ensuring Passenger Comfort
The State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism, M. Rashiduzzaman Millat, emphasized that the Bangladeshi Embassy is maintaining round-the-clock contact with the airport and is closely monitoring the situation. Necessary medicines have been arranged for passengers, and efforts are being made to expedite the repair work of the aircraft, which experienced a technical fault at Rome's Fiumicino Airport.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines dispatched a team of engineers along with required spare parts to Rome to address the technical issue. The aircraft, which was scheduled to depart Rome on August 7, remains grounded. The national carrier is committed to ensuring passenger safety and has arranged hotel accommodations, meals, and other necessary assistance for the affected passengers.
Technical Glitch and Repair Efforts
The technical fault on the aircraft has caused delays for both the Toronto-Rome-Dhaka flight and its return journey. Biman's engineering team and spare parts were transported to Rome aboard another flight, with the expectation that repairs will be completed promptly. Once the repairs are finished and the necessary inspections are conducted, the flight is expected to depart Rome for Dhaka.
Continuous communication from Dhaka is being maintained to oversee the repair process and ensure the flight's timely departure. Passengers are being kept updated on the flight situation and reassured that their safety is the top priority for the airline.
