Train traffic on the Parbatipur-Burimari route returned to normal about an hour and a half after a commuter train experienced a partial derailment in Rangpur city on Saturday. The incident, which occurred around 10:30 am in the Babupara area, involved the engine and a rear bogie of the train departing from Burimari. Fortunately, no passengers were injured, but the disruption halted services for approximately an hour and a half. Bangladesh Railway authorities have swiftly formed a four-member committee to investigate the cause of the derailment.
According to railway officials, the derailment took place as the train approached the Rangpur rail station. Several wheels of the engine and the rear bogie derailed, prompting immediate response from railway staff. Rescue operations were conducted on-site, and the derailed parts were separated to allow train movement to resume on another track. Currently, operations at the Rangpur station are reported to be running smoothly.
A four-member investigation team, led by Assistant Transportation Officer-1 Farukul Islam Manik, has been appointed by the Bangladesh Railway to determine the reasons behind the accident.
