Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Musleh Uddin Ahmed has vowed to create a safe and peaceful environment in the capital through impartial, professional, and people-oriented policing services. Speaking at a law-and-order discussion with local residents at Basila Police Camp, Ahmed emphasized that these services will benefit businessmen, ordinary citizens, and children alike.
The meeting, organized by the Mohammadpur Police Station under DMP's Tejgaon Division, aimed to discuss ways to improve the overall law-and-order situation in the area, take a tougher stance against drugs, ease traffic congestion, and strengthen public safety. Commissioner Ahmed highlighted the importance of stronger ties between police and the public, as well as greater direct participation of citizens in eliminating crimes such as theft and snatching, as well as addressing traffic congestion and local disputes.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Director General and Additional IGP Md Ahsan Habib Palash also addressed the meeting, urging parents to take greater responsibility for preventing drug abuse, online gambling, and juvenile gangs. He stressed that families have the primary responsibility for monitoring their children's movements and behavior. Palash called on citizens to play a courageous role, without fear, in strengthening law and order in their communities.
The discussion saw participation from senior officials of DMP and RAB, along with local residents. The meeting underscored the collaborative effort required between law enforcement agencies and the community to ensure a secure environment. Community policing, which involves active participation from residents in crime prevention and safety initiatives, is seen as a crucial strategy in achieving this goal.
