An unidentified 55-year-old man was tragically killed after being struck by the Chattogram-bound Sagarika Express train in Chandpur this afternoon. The incident occurred around 2:30 PM in the Dakshin Tarapurchandi area, along the Chandpur-Laksam railway route. Local residents reported that the train was sounding its horn as it approached a railway crossing west of the town's regional passport office. The man was walking along the middle of the railway track and did not move away, resulting in the fatal collision.

Railway police arrived at the scene shortly after receiving information about the accident. Local resident Nazmul Hasan stated that police spoke to people in the surrounding area, but nobody could identify the victim. Chandpur Railway Police (GRP) Officer-in-Charge Rajib Kar confirmed that the police recovered the man's body from the scene.

The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Chandpur office has been informed to assist in identifying the deceased. Legal action will be taken following the identification process. The Sagarika Express, a prominent intercity train, operates on the Chandpur-Laksam railway route, which is a crucial transportation link in the region.

Railway accidents are a significant concern in Bangladesh, often attributed to a combination of factors including inadequate safety measures, human error, and insufficient infrastructure.
