In a tragic incident this morning, a tractor driver lost his life after his power tiller trolley was struck by a train at a railway crossing in Nachole upazila of Chapainawabganj district. The deceased has been identified as Abul Kalam Azad, a 35-year-old resident of Bandora village in the upazila.

Azad was returning home from the Deopara area with a goat on his power tiller trolley when the Khulna-bound Mahananda train, which had departed from Rohanpur, collided with his vehicle as he attempted to cross the Deopara railway crossing line. The impact threw Azad off the trolley, and he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Local police and witnesses confirmed the incident. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nachole Police Station, Sukomal Chandra Debnath, stated that the body had been recovered and would be handed over to the family after completing the necessary legal formalities. The loss of life at railway crossings remains a concerning issue in the area.

Residents of Bandora village expressed sorrow over the incident, describing Azad as a hardworking individual who was known for his dedication to farming. The accident has raised questions about safety measures at railway crossings and the need for better protective infrastructure.

This unfortunate event highlights the dangers faced by drivers and pedestrians at railway crossings, especially in rural areas where such incidents can have a devastating impact on the community. Authorities are urged to review and improve safety protocols to prevent future tragedies.
