Bangladesh's Piton Industries Limited and Oman-based Modern Star Businesses LLC have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to export electric motorcycles (EVs) to Oman, exchange technology, and explore joint investment. The agreement aims to open a new avenue for Bangladesh's electric vehicle (EV) industry to enter the Middle Eastern market.
The MoU was signed at the Bangladesh Innovation Fair 2026 venue at Novo Theatre in Dhaka. Science and Technology Ministry Secretary Md Anwar Hossain was present at the event. Sheikh Iqbal Zahedi, managing director of Piton Industries, and Said Abdul Ghafoor Saifuddin, founder and CEO of Modern Star Businesses LLC (Star Drones), signed the agreement on behalf of their respective companies.
The Omani delegation expressed satisfaction after visiting the exhibition and witnessing the quality of Bangladeshi products and the talent of young entrepreneurs. As an initial step, electric bikes manufactured in Bangladesh will be supplied for the delivery fleet for Oman's popular food delivery app 'Bees'. Later, a full-fledged assembly line is planned to be established in Oman to meet the huge demand across the Middle East.
Under the MoU, Oman will acquire knowledge of EV technology from Bangladesh, while the technological capabilities of both countries will be enhanced through reverse engineering. Fathia bint Ahmed Al Balushi, deputy head of mission and minister plenipotentiary at the Embassy of Oman in Bangladesh, attended the event as a special guest.
This collaboration is significant for Bangladesh's EV industry as it aims to expand its market reach into the Middle East. The export of electric motorcycles to Oman not only showcases the quality of Bangladeshi products but also highlights the growing capabilities of its young entrepreneurs in the tech sector.
The establishment of a full-fledged assembly line in Oman will further strengthen the partnership and provide a stable market for Bangladeshi EVs. This move is expected to boost the local EV industry, create jobs, and enhance technological exchange between the two countries.
