Standard Chartered Bangladesh recently convened the inaugural Financial Markets Leadership Forum for financial institution clients in Bangladesh. The event brought together regulators and nearly 200 esteemed industry leaders from banks, financial institutions, and capital markets to share perspectives on the evolving financial markets landscape, regulatory leadership, market stability, and opportunities for sustainable growth and innovation in Bangladesh.

Discussions during the Forum focused on how stronger risk management practices, deeper and more liquid markets, and the strategic use of technology and sustainable finance can help Bangladesh navigate global uncertainty and capture new opportunities. Participants highlighted the critical role of robust market infrastructure, regulatory clarity, and collaboration in strengthening Bangladesh's position within the global financial system.

The Forum was graced by Masud Khan, chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission as the chief guest, and Md. Sarwar Hossain, deputy governor of Bangladesh Bank (BB), as special guest. Their presence underscored the importance of close and continuous engagement between regulators and market participants in building a robust, resilient, and future ready financial system.

"Bangladesh's financial markets stand at a pivotal moment," said Enamul Huque, chief executive officer (CEO) of Standard Chartered Bangladesh. "By deepening market liquidity, strengthening risk management, and embracing digital and sustainable finance, we can unlock the next phase of growth for our economy. On behalf of Standard Chartered Bangladesh, the Bank's CEO delivered the opening remarks and Head of Markets and Corporate Sales, Sabah Saleheen Azim, moderated the event and panel discussion. Other panelists and speakers include Managing Director (MD) of City Bank, PLC Mashrur Arefin, Deputy Managing Director (DMD) and Head of Treasury of Offshore Banking and Financial Institutions, Eastern Bank PLC Mehdi Zaman, and from Standard Chartered, Ashish Malik, Head, Markets FI Sales South Asia; Head of FI, GCNA, and Head of BBD, GCNA South Asia, CIB FI BBD Himanshu Dhyani, and Head of Financial Institutions, Bangladesh Nasreen Rehman.
