The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) has initiated a significant two-day training program on securities law, designed specifically for compliance officers and authorized representatives of Dhaka-based companies with a TREC license. The program, held at the Bangladesh Academy for Securities Market, aims to enhance understanding and adherence to securities regulations, a crucial aspect as Bangladesh's capital market undergoes transformation.
Training Focuses on Regulatory Compliance and Transparency
Led by officials from CSE's Compliance, Inspection and Enforcement Department, the training sessions were moderated by M Sadek Ahmed, head of Training and Awareness at CSE. Key topics included recent amendments to securities laws, best practices in report preparation, and strategies for avoiding common reporting errors. Participants highlighted the program's timeliness and its role in clarifying complex legal issues.
In his opening remarks, CSE Managing Director M. Saifur Rahman Mazumdar emphasized the importance of transparency and strict compliance in achieving business success and investor confidence. He noted that as the capital market evolves, so too must the skills and knowledge of market participants. Mazumdar also underscored CSE's efforts to deepen the capital market, including plans to establish a commodity market.
The training program was well-received by participants, who requested that CSE organize similar events regularly to keep professionals updated with regulatory changes. The sessions were designed to equip compliance officers with the necessary skills to navigate the complexities of securities laws effectively.
The initiative reflects CSE's commitment to fostering a compliant and professional environment in the capital market. By providing comprehensive training, CSE aims to support the development of brokerage houses that are both transparent and investor-friendly.
