The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has introduced a six-day Level One Coaching Course designed to help first class cricketers improve their understanding of the game and prepare for future coaching roles. The course, which began last Saturday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, has attracted 32 participants, including former international cricketers such as Arafat Sunny, Mahmudullah Riyad, Kamrul Islam Rabbi, and Fazle Rabbi. The program, organized by the BCB's Game Development Department, is led by national team coaches Mohammad Salahuddin, Sohel Islam, and Navid Newaz.
The course curriculum covers a wide range of topics essential for cricket coaching, including biomechanics, practice and program planning, skill acquisition, team planning, player technique evaluation, and methods for correcting technical flaws. Former Test cricketer Kamrul Islam Rabbi, one of the participants, expressed his enthusiasm for the course, stating that it would be highly beneficial and help him build a stronger understanding of the game. "I believe this is a very good course and we will benefit greatly from it. I want to continue playing cricket for another three to four years, and I will try to apply what I learn here in my career," Rabbi said.
Rabbi further explained his decision to join the program, emphasizing the importance of learning cricket fundamentals. "The main reason behind taking this course is to gain more knowledge. Level One creates a strong foundation for cricket and understanding the basics of the game is extremely important," he added. The BCB has also arranged Level Two and Level Three coaching courses this year as part of its ongoing development program. A total of 32 participants completed the Level Two course held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium from July 15 to 20 under the guidance of ICC Level Three Master Educator and former Nepal international cricketer Binod Kumar Das. Following that, 30 participants successfully completed the Level Three coaching course.
