The affected crossings are Shalamsheh in Basra, al-Shib in Missan, and al-Mandali in Diyala. On Sunday, the government's security media cell announced a phased reopening, beginning immediately and continuing through Thursday. Shalamsheh and al-Shib have already reopened for passengers but remain closed for trade.
Two Iraqi security sources informed AFP that drone launchers were discovered near the al-Shib border crossing in Missan. Despite the attack, no group has claimed responsibility, and an alliance of Iran-backed Iraqi armed factions denied involvement. However, Saudi Arabia has previously accused Iraqi groups of attacking its oil infrastructure.
