Authorities in Dhaka conducted a series of operations resulting in the arrest of 482 people over a 24-hour period, as well as the filing of 48 cases. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) executed these actions across various divisions of the capital.
Details of the Arrests
The arrests were conducted by multiple divisions within the DMP. The Ramna Division arrested 34 individuals, Lalbagh Division took 24 into custody, Wari Division detained 64, Motijheel Division apprehended 87, Tejgaon Division arrested 67, Mirpur Division detained 114, Gulshan Division arrested 33, Uttara Division apprehended 50, the Detective Branch arrested eight, and the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Division arrested one.
Seizures Made During the Operations
During the operations, police seized significant amounts of illegal items. They recovered Tk 290,000 in cash believed to be from drug sales, four music systems worth around Tk 230,000, five mobile phones, a knife, a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, 157 SIM cards, three motorcycles, one pistol, one magazine, one revolver, and six rounds of ammunition.
Additionally, police confiscated 12 sickles, a baseball bat, a dasa (traditional cutting weapon), a dagger, a cutter, 7,699 yaba tablets, 65.5 kilograms of cannabis, nine ampoules of injections, and 22.5 liters of foreign liquor.
