His body was laid to rest at the Postogola crematorium after colleagues and well-wishers paid their respects at the Jatiya Press Club.
Beginning his career with the Pakistan Observer in 1965, Roy later contributed to several prominent publications including the Bangladesh Times, The Financial Express, and the Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS). His career spanned significant periods of Bangladesh's history, providing insightful and courageous reporting.
President Hasan Hafiz and General Secretary Aiyub Bhuiyan of the Jatiya Press Club expressed profound shock and sorrow over Roy's death. They conveyed their deepest sympathies to his family and wished for the salvation of his soul.
