Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visited the Hathazari Madrasa in Chattogram to pay his respects at the grave of late Hefazat-e-Islam Ameer Allama Shafi. Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi, who passed away on September 18, 2020, was a significant figure in Bangladesh's Qawmi madrasa community. He served as the Director-General of Al-Jamiatul Ahlia Darul Ulum Moinul Islam for over three decades and was the founding Ameer of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh. His contributions to Islamic education and socio-religious issues were widely recognized.

Before visiting Allama Shafi's grave, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman traveled to Fatikchhari to meet with Allama Muhibbullah Babunagari, the current Ameer of Hefazat Islam Bangladesh. The Prime Minister's visit to Hathazari included a series of formal exchanges, including shaking hands and exchanging greetings with students on the madrasa grounds.

Other officials present were Prime Minister's Defence Adviser Brig Gen (retd) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam, Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman, and Principal of the madrasa Maulana Khalil Ahmed Qureshi.
