Two individuals were arrested in Rajshahi for allegedly posing as members of the Detective Branch (DB) and attempting to extort money from a resident. The incident occurred in the Piadapara area under Arani Municipality in Bagha Upazila. Locals detained Hasibul Hasan and Sohel Rana after they twice visited the house of Sohel Rana, demanding money.
On Wednesday, Hasan and Rana went to Rana's house, claiming to be DB officers. They reportedly intimidated him and took Taka 60,000 and a mobile phone. Suspecting their true intentions, residents detained the duo when they returned the next day to demand more money.
Upon receiving information, Bagha Thana police arrived at the scene, rescued the two, and took them to the police station. This incident highlights the ongoing issue of police impersonation for criminal activities in Bangladesh, causing public concern and prompting swift action from local authorities.
