Chittagong-10 lawmaker and Chittagong University's (CU) Senate member Sayeed Al Noman today called for an end to the old political culture in Bangladesh, emphasizing that the people have rejected such practices following the 2024 July Uprising. Speaking as the chief guest at a discussion organized by the Bangladesh Tarun Lekhak Forum at the Business Administration Faculty auditorium, Noman highlighted the necessity for a new political consciousness, free from past hatreds and conflicts.

'Everyone here was connected to July in one way or another. If we truly want to rebuild the current Bangladesh, we must remake ourselves anew in our consciousness, our work and our thinking. After July, we no longer want that old hatred, that old conflict, that old politics,' he asserted. Noman also stressed the need for a social and cultural revolution in Bangladesh, with writers and intellectuals playing a crucial role in nation-building.

The event, presided over by CU chapter President of the forum I H Emon and inaugurated by CU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Dr. Mohammed Al-Amin, saw around four to five hundred students in attendance. Prof. Amin encouraged young writers to address the subtle issues of society, while Khulna-4 constituency MP Azizul Bari Helal, the keynote speaker, discussed the importance of extensive reading and listening for effective writing.
