BNP Standing Committee Member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy today commended Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's relentless efforts to enhance the welfare and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities. Speaking as the chief guest at a wheelchair distribution ceremony held at the Keraniganj Intellectually Disabled and Autistic School, Roy highlighted the government's commitment under Rahman's leadership to create a healthy, inclusive, and disability-friendly society.

During his address, Roy emphasized that children with disabilities often face physical limitations due to congenital or natural causes. He asserted that with appropriate training, technological support, and medical services, these children can become active members of mainstream society. He called on wealthy business people and financially capable individuals to contribute to this noble cause, believing that such assistance can lead to positive societal changes.

Roy urged journalists and media houses to maintain professional principles in their reporting. He encouraged them to focus on highlighting positive developments in society rather than sensationalizing or creating unnecessary controversies. This approach, he believes, will inspire more people to engage in welfare-oriented activities.

The event was presided over by Keraniganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Omar Faruk. Special guests included BNP Executive Committee Member Nazim Uddin Master and Joint Convener of Jatiyatabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha (JASAS) Md Ahsan Ullah Chowdhury. The Founder and Head Teacher of the Keraniganj Intellectually Disabled and Autistic School, Dr Md Zakir Hossain (Masum), and Nasir Uddin Ahmed Mirza were also present.

Following the discussion, the guests distributed wheelchairs to children with disabilities. The event concluded with the presentation of crests of honour to the guests. The wheelchair distribution ceremony underscored the government's ongoing efforts to support and integrate persons with disabilities into society.

The initiative reflects a broader commitment to improving the lives of persons with disabilities in Bangladesh. By providing necessary equipment and support, the government aims to enhance their quality of life and promote their active participation in community activities. This effort is crucial for fostering a more inclusive society where everyone has the opportunity to contribute and thrive.
