A heartfelt letter from a fifth-grade student expressing her love for music and wish to meet Prime Minister Tarique Rahman turned into a dream come true as the premier invited the young singer to meet him and gifted her a harmonium.

Passion for Music

Anushree Roy, a fifth-grade student of Purba Nabonidas Government Primary School in Gangachara upazila of Rangpur, wrote a letter to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman expressing her passion for music, her family's inability to afford a harmonium, and her dream of meeting the Prime Minister. She handed the letter to one of the Prime Minister's officials during the National Primary Education Award-2026 ceremony last month.

Prime Minister's Response

After reading the letter, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman invited Anushree and her family to the Prime Minister's Office at the Bangladesh Secretariat. PM's Press Secretary Suzauddhowla Sujan Mahmud confirmed the meeting. During the meeting, the Prime Minister warmly spoke with the young singer, enquired about her musical pursuits, and encouraged her to continue practicing regularly. He also gifted her the harmonium she had requested in her letter.

Overwhelmed with joy after meeting the Prime Minister, Anushree said, "I never imagined that the Prime Minister would read my letter and invite me for a meeting." She added that her family could not afford a harmonium, so she wrote about her situation in a letter and handed it to one of the Prime Minister's officials during the award ceremony.

Anushree's father became emotional, saying they had never imagined that the Prime Minister would personally invite and encourage their daughter. He said he had often told Anushree about the Prime Minister's humanitarian initiatives and support for ordinary people, which inspired her to believe that writing a letter to him might receive a response.
