Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) celebrated 'University Day 2026' with a series of vibrant and engaging programmes. The day-long events included colorful arrangements, participation from teachers, students, officers, employees, and distinguished guests. The celebration commenced at 9:30 am with the hoisting of the national and university flags in front of the administrative building.
Flag Hoisting and Dove Release
The flag hoisting ceremony was followed by a symbolic dove release by Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Professor Mamun Ahmed, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. S M Abdur Razzak, Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Akhtar Hossain, and other dignitaries. This act welcomed the day and symbolized peace and unity.
Research, Innovation, and Community Service
A prayer in memory of martyred students and a tree plantation program were held to honor those who contributed to the nation and promote environmental conservation. Guests observed a research poster and startup module exhibition, where students showcased their innovative initiatives. The invited guests underscored the importance of research and innovation among students.
Additionally, free blood and eye check-up services were provided through a campaign organized by the blood donor organization 'Nirob'. A joyous rally paraded through the campus, involving teachers, officers, employees, and students. The day culminated in a discussion meeting, painting exhibition, and prize distribution ceremony in the conference room.
The closing ceremony featured speeches by UGC Chairman Professor Dr. Mamun Ahmed and RUET Vice-Chancellor Professor Abdur Razzak. Professor Ahmed emphasized the importance of ethical research aimed at solving real-world problems and fostering social bonding. He highlighted that the true goal of university education is to build individuals with ethics, human values, and a sense of responsibility towards society.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Abdur Razzak expressed optimism about RUET's future, hoping for continued support from the UGC in research and innovation. He praised the collective efforts of the RUET community and their dedication to advancing the institution on the international stage. The event concluded with the distribution of prizes and honors to winners of various competitions, including painting.
