In a remarkable display of skill and teamwork, Bangladesh Army and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have jointly clinched the championship title in the men's senior division of the 5th Federation Cup Taekwondo Competition-2026. The Bangladesh Army also emerged victorious in the women's senior division, with BGB finishing as runners-up. The three-day event, organized by the Bangladesh Taekwondo Federation (BTF), took place at the National Sports Council Gymnasium in Paltan from August 28 to 30.
Competition Highlights
The competition saw around 450 male and female taekwondo players from 22 teams, including Bangladesh Army, BGB, Bangladesh Police, and 19 district sports associations, competing in various categories. In the men's senior division, both Bangladesh Army and BGB secured four gold and four silver medals each, leading to a shared championship. Chattogram District Sports Association finished as runners-up with four bronze medals.
In the women's senior division, Bangladesh Army dominated with four gold and two silver medals, claiming the title. BGB secured two gold and one bronze medal to finish as runners-up. The event was presided over by BTF President and BGB Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui, with State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Aminul Haque attending as the chief guest at the closing and prize distribution ceremony.
