In a proactive operation, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) successfully halted an attempt to smuggle five sacks of Bangladeshi fertiliser across the Teknaf border into Myanmar, apprehending one Forcibly Displaced Myanmar National (FDMN). The incident unfolded in the early hours, as part of a special operation by a patrol team from the Dumdumia Border Outpost, under Teknaf Battalion.
Operation Details
The operation was meticulously planned, leveraging intelligence information to position the patrol team near the Jadimura border post along the Naf River. At approximately 4:30 am, the patrol team intercepted a manually operated wooden boat, leading to the arrest of the FDMN and the discovery of the fertiliser.
Legal and Customs Procedures
Following the seizure, legal procedures are underway to transfer the arrested individual to the Teknaf Model Police Station. Meanwhile, the seized fertiliser is set to be deposited with the Teknaf Customs Office. The BGB's swift action underscores their commitment to preventing the smuggling of goods and the infiltration of contraband.
Lieutenant Colonel Md Hanifur Rahman Bhuiyan, Commanding Officer of Teknaf Battalion, emphasised the ongoing vigilance of the BGB. He highlighted that intelligence surveillance, regular patrols, and special operations along the border will continue, aiming to thwart smuggling activities and maintain border security.
