In a significant display of strength, Bangladesh's senior national hockey team achieved a commanding 7-1 victory over the Under-20 side during a practice match on Monday. This win comes as the team is gearing up for the upcoming Asian Games, where they will face a challenging competition.

The match, held at BKSP, saw the national team, composed of players chosen for the Asian Games squad, face off against the Under-20 team, which is currently participating in the Asia Cup training camp. Despite the high score, head coach Peter Gerhard emphasized the need for continuous improvement.

Gerhard praised the team's ability to implement tactical instructions effectively on the field but highlighted areas that still require attention. 'I am never easily satisfied. We still have a lot of work ahead of us. However, I was impressed with the players' performance today. They executed on the field exactly what we had worked on in training,' he said after the match.

As the team looks forward to the Asian Games, Gerhard stressed that their first match against South Korea will be crucial. 'We must remember that South Korea will be a completely different challenge, so we have plenty of hard work ahead. Overall, though, I am satisfied with where the team is at this stage,' he noted.

The continued preparation for the Asian Games will focus on refining the team's performance, with the coaching staff aiming to address any remaining weaknesses. This victory serves as a positive indicator of the team's potential in the upcoming continental competition, raising hopes for a strong showing in the Asian Games.
