Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) marked 'July Uprising Day-2026' with a series of events that included colorful processions, tree planting, competitions, and cultural programs. The day began with the hoisting of the national flag and a procession led by Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali. Participants carried banners and marched through key campus locations. The Vice-chancellor highlighted the significance of the July mass uprising and the role of youth in fostering a democratic environment in Bangladesh. Various competitions and a cultural program featuring students and a popular music group were also held.

Procession and Tree Planting

The celebration commenced with the hoisting of the national flag. Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali inaugurated a colorful procession from the south gate of the university's administrative building. Despite the rainy weather, teachers, students, officers, and employees participated enthusiastically. The procession, accompanied by musical instruments, passed through Parker Mour, Shaheed Abu Sayeed Chattar, and Modern Mour, circling the main roads of the campus. Following the procession, the Vice-chancellor planted a tree on the campus as a symbol of growth and remembrance.

Competitions and Cultural Programs

In the afternoon, a painting competition was held to engage students creatively. An essay competition took place at the Kobi Hayat Mamud Bhaban, and a road magazine featuring writings about the July Uprising was published. After Zohr prayers, a doa and Milad Mehfil were conducted at the central mosque to pray for the souls of the July martyrs and the recovery of the injured. Special food was arranged for students in the residential halls. A discussion meeting was organized, chaired by Professor Dr Md Ferdous Rahman, with Professor Dr Md Nazrul Islam as the special guest. The day concluded with a cultural program where university students and the music group 'Bagdhara' performed.
