Khulna Agricultural University (KAU) commemorated July Mass Uprising Day on Wednesday through various solemn activities, paying tribute to the martyrs of the July uprising. The day began with the hoisting of the national flag at sunrise, followed by essay writing, recitation, and drawing competitions held at the Temporary Campus-1.
Tributes and Prayers
Teachers, students, officers, and employees gathered to pay their respects to the martyrs by placing wreaths at the July Memorial Monument. Special prayers were offered at a nearby mosque and orphanage, while the Hindu community arranged prayers at a temple, seeking peace for the victims and recovery for the injured.
Discussion and Remembrance
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Md. Asaduzzaman Sarkar chaired a discussion meeting in the afternoon, which was attended by the university's Treasurer Prof Dr. Shamim Ahamed Kamal Uddin Khan, Acting Registrar Rezaul Islam, and July warrior Hasib Rahman Abik. The VC emphasized the importance of safeguarding the nation's hard-earned freedom and democracy.
Concluding Ceremonies
The day's events concluded with a prize-giving ceremony for the competition winners, a tree plantation program on the campus, and a courtesy meeting with family members of the July martyrs.
