Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) has introduced a fully automated system for research paper and journal submission and review. This system, developed by RUET's own manpower, aims to align with international standards. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. SM Abdur Razzak inaugurated the system during a ceremony held in the VC's conference room. The system includes two websites: jeas.ruet.ac.bd for the Journal of Engineering and Applied Science (JEAS) and submit.jeas.ruet.ac.bd for online submission and review. This innovation allows researchers and students worldwide to submit and review papers digitally without manual intervention.
The development of this automated website was led by Prof Dr. Abdul Khalek, Director of the Research and Extension Office, with the cooperation of Prof Dr. Md. Samiul Habib, director of the ICT Cell. Assistant Programmer Monirul Islam was responsible for the technical implementation. The system also incorporates a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) numbering system, which was not applied to RUET journals up to Volume-9. Starting from Volume-10, DOI numbers will be assigned to all submitted journals.
At the inauguration, Prof Dr. Abdul Khalek provided a detailed briefing on the use and scope of the new websites. He explained that the system allows for complete automation in the submission and review process, enhancing efficiency and reducing the need for manual handling. This move is expected to streamline the research publication process at RUET and bring it up to international standards.
The introduction of this automated system is a significant step for RUET in modernizing its research journal management. By adopting international standards and incorporating DOI numbers, RUET aims to improve the quality and visibility of its research publications. This initiative is likely to benefit researchers and students by providing a more efficient and user-friendly platform for submitting and reviewing research papers.
The impact of this new system extends beyond RUET, as it sets a precedent for other academic institutions in Bangladesh to adopt similar technologies. By enhancing the research publication process, RUET contributes to the overall improvement of academic standards in the country. This development is particularly important in an era where digital transformation is crucial for staying competitive globally.
In conclusion, RUET's automated journal submission and review system represents a forward-thinking approach to research management. By leveraging technology and aligning with international standards, RUET is poised to enhance the quality and efficiency of its research publications. This initiative not only benefits the university but also sets a positive example for other institutions in Bangladesh, promoting a culture of innovation and excellence in academic research.
