State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Aminul Haque announced today that the government is taking significant steps to recognize sports as a profession and include sports-related subjects in school textbooks from class four. Speaking as the chief guest at the final and prize-giving ceremony of the 'Deputy Commissioner Gold Cup Football tournament' held at Shaheed Birshreshtha Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj, Haque revealed that work on books covering eight events under the 'Notun Kuri Sports' programme has already been completed. These books are planned to be included in schools from next year.
The State Minister emphasized that the current government is giving the highest priority to sports and is working towards establishing sports as a viable profession. He highlighted the successful completion of the first phase of the 'Notun Kuri Sports' programme, which aims to identify new talent at the grassroots level. This initiative reflects the government's commitment to nurturing sports talent from a young age and providing a structured pathway for aspiring athletes.
In addition to curriculum changes, Haque discussed plans to improve sports infrastructure across the country. He mentioned that stadiums in every district would be modernized within the next five years. Simultaneously, initiatives would be taken to renovate district swimming pools. Specific improvements at Munshiganj District Stadium include the construction of a gallery, renovation of the press box and dressing rooms, and development of indoor facilities and a gymnasium.
The announcement was made during a significant event, with lawmaker of Munshiganj-3 Md Kamruzzaman and Munshiganj District Council Administrator AKM Eradat present as special guests. Munshiganj Deputy Commissioner Syeda Nurmahal Ashrafi chaired the ceremony. The event underscored the government's dedication to enhancing sports facilities and promoting sports education in Bangladesh.
