Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is committed to creating a nation of talented and healthy youth through engagement in sports, education, and social welfare, according to MP Azizul Bari Helal. Speaking at the inauguration of the Inter-Class Football Tournament-2026 at KDA School and College in Khulna, Helal outlined the government's strategy to leverage these activities as a means of national development.

Sports as a Platform for Nation-Building

Helal highlighted that the Prime Minister's Gold Cup National Football Tournament, named after Tarique Rahman, is more than just a competition. It serves as a crucial platform for identifying new talent, instilling discipline, and guiding young people away from drugs and towards positive values. The MP emphasized that sports can play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the nation.

Referring to the July Mass Uprising, Helal noted that the event showcased the potential of the country's youth to unite and overcome national challenges. He added that the government, under Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's leadership, is focused on creating a discrimination-free state that meets the aspirations of the younger generation.

Helal also pointed out that Khulna and its surrounding areas have historically been a breeding ground for sporting talent. With the right training and regular practice, local athletes could bring international recognition to Bangladesh. The MP commended KDA School and College for organizing the tournament, stressing the importance of balancing sports with academic education to ensure the holistic development of students.

Leadership and Vision

The tournament's inauguration was formally conducted by Advocate SM Shafiqul Alam Mona, Chairman of the Khulna Development Authority and President of the Governing Body of KDA School and College. Several dignitaries attended, including Khulna University Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Md Harunur Rashid Khan, Bangladesh Cricket Board Director Shafiqul Alam Tuhin, and various KDA officials.

Helal's remarks reflect the government's broader strategy to invest in the youth through sports and education. By fostering a culture of discipline and positivity, the Prime Minister aims to build a robust and capable future generation, capable of driving the nation forward.
