In a solemn and respectful gesture, President-elect Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today visited the graves of Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia, two towering figures in Bangladesh's political history. The ceremony took place at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in Dhaka, inside Zia Udyan, following Jummah prayers. Mirza Fakhrul, a veteran politician, placed separate wreaths at the graves of the BNP founder and Shaheed president Ziaur Rahman, and former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia. He recited Fateha and joined a munajat, seeking eternal peace for the departed leaders.

Ziaur Rahman, a military officer and statesman, played a crucial role in the nation's post-independence era. His leadership and vision were instrumental in shaping modern Bangladesh. Begum Khaleda Zia, the first female prime minister of Bangladesh, continued the legacy of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and contributed significantly to the country's political landscape. Their contributions have left an indelible mark on the nation's history.

Mirza Fakhrul's visit to the graves is a poignant reminder of the sacrifices and contributions made by these leaders. As he prepares to be sworn in as Bangladesh's 23rd president, the ceremony underscores the importance of honoring the past while looking towards the future. The oath-taking ceremony is scheduled for this evening at the Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban, set to commence at 7:30 PM.

The significance of this event extends beyond the political realm. It symbolizes the continuity of leadership and the respect for those who have shaped the nation's journey. Mirza Fakhrul's actions today reflect a deep sense of reverence for the foundational figures of the BNP and their enduring impact on Bangladesh.

As the nation awaits the inauguration of its new president, the homage paid by Mirza Fakhrul serves as a bridge between the past and the present. It is a moment of reflection and gratitude, honoring the legacy of Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia while ushering in a new chapter under the leadership of Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
