On August 5, 2026, Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain emphasized the importance of supporting the July fighters, stating that such support would bring peace to the souls of the martyrs. Speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of a three-day event organized by the Chattogram Press Club to commemorate the second anniversary of the July Uprising, Dr. Hossain highlighted the significance of standing by those who participated in the uprising. He argued that the 2024 mass uprising was a powerful expression of public outrage against what he described as Sheikh Hasina's oppression, corruption, and discrimination.

The mayor asserted that the uprising led to the establishment of a new government, which has restored democratic rights, freedom of expression, rule of law, human rights, and the right to vote. Dr. Hossain stressed that the July uprising is a collective effort and not the achievement of any single party or faction. He called for unity among all citizens to enjoy the benefits of the uprising.

The event, which was presided over by Press Club President Zahidul Karim Kochi, featured Quran Khatam, Doa Mahfil, and a discussion meeting. Notable attendees included Chattogram Metropolitan Journalists Union President Md. Shah Nowaz, Chattogram University Professor Shahidul Haque, and several journalists. The gathering aimed to honor the memory of the July fighters and to reflect on the progress made since the uprising.

Dr. Hossain's speech underscored the ongoing relevance of the July Uprising, framing it as a pivotal moment that reshaped the political landscape of Chattogram and beyond. By linking the peace of the martyrs to the collective support of the July fighters, he reinforced the idea that the uprising's legacy continues to influence the city's future.

This call for unity and remembrance highlights the significance of the July Uprising in Chattogram's history, illustrating how the events of 2024 continue to resonate and inspire action among its citizens.
