BNP Marks 2nd Anniversary of July Uprising in Chattogram with Commemoration

The Chattogram division of BNP commemorated the second anniversary of the July Uprising, celebrating it as the result of a 17-year democratic struggle.

On the second anniversary of the July Uprising, Mahbuber Rahman Shamim, Chattogram divisional organizing secretary of BNP, emphasized that the uprising was the outcome of the party's 17-year long movement aimed at restoring democracy, safeguarding people's rights, and resisting authoritarian rule.

Significance of the July Uprising

Shamim highlighted the crucial role Chhatra Dal played during the July-August movement in Chattogram. He noted that Wasim Akram, a leader of Chittagong College Chhatra Dal, became the first martyr from the district during the movement.

Guidance from Tarique Rahman

Shamim also mentioned that Tarique Rahman, then BNP Acting Chairman, provided continuous guidance to party leaders and activists throughout the movement. He urged people to stay united in the ongoing struggle to restore democracy.

Commemorative Event Details

The event, organized by the Chattogram Metropolitan BNP and its associate bodies, was chaired by Chattogram Metropolitan BNP Convener Ershad Ullah and moderated by Nazimur Rahman. Other notable BNP leaders who addressed the gathering included Abu Sufian, MP, Saeed Al Noman, MP, and central executive committee member Shamsul Alam.
