On August 5, 2026, Dinajpur marked July Mass Uprising Day through a series of solemn events, including wreath-laying ceremonies, discussions, and a reception for the families of martyrs and fighters from the 2024 uprising. Commemoration Ceremony
The day began with the laying of floral wreaths at the local July Memorial by several prominent figures, including Dinajpur-3 Member of Parliament Syed Jahangir Alam, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, and Superintendent of Police Mohammad Zedan Al Musa. This was followed by officials from the district administration, police, political parties, and July fighters, all paying their respects.
Honoring Families
A reception was held at the Shishu Academy Auditorium to honor the families of those who were martyred during the 2024 July Mass Uprising, as well as the fighters who participated. The event aimed to recognize their contributions and sacrifices.
Historical Significance
During a discussion meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, MP Syed Jahangir Alam highlighted the historical significance of the 2024 July Mass Uprising. He described it as a movement that resulted in the fall of the Awami League government and paved the way for a more democratic and participatory political process.
Other speakers, including Superintendent of Police Mohammad Zedan Al Musa, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Habibul Hasan, and Dinajpur District BNP Vice-President Mohammad Khalekuzzaman Babu, also shared their thoughts on the uprising's impact on the district and the nation.
