Nahid Islam, convener of the Jatiya Nagorik Party (JNP) and opposition chief whip, stated that economic reforms are not possible with the current budget. He mentioned that although the budget shows some creative aspects like reducing taxes on certain goods and increasing allocations for education, health, and social security, these measures are not practically implementable.
Speaking to journalists at the Chittagong Circuit House, Nahid Islam highlighted three fundamental issues in the economy: the banking sector, the fuel-electricity sector, and employment. He criticized the budget for not addressing these critical areas and for lacking measures to curb corruption.
Nahid Islam also questioned the accountability and transparency of the budget, particularly regarding various schemes and allocations. He emphasized that the budget fails to address the fragile banking system and the overall vulnerable economy.
