Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam today underscored the government's commitment to providing opportunities for persons with disabilities to harness their latent talents through technology. Speaking at the closing and prize-giving ceremony of the 'National IT Competition for Youth with Disabilities 2026,' Faqir emphasized the importance of technology in ensuring that every citizen becomes an equal partner in the country's development and progress.

Empowerment Through Technology

Faqir, who also holds the portfolio of Science and Technology Minister, highlighted that disability should not be viewed as a limitation. He stressed that young persons with disabilities can contribute significantly to the nation's digital transformation and development if provided with the right opportunities, training, and technology. The government is prioritizing the enhancement of their digital skills and technological empowerment to ensure no section of society is left behind.

National and Global Recognition

The minister noted that the competition serves as a crucial platform for developing the talents of young persons with disabilities and showcasing Bangladesh's capabilities on the international stage. He expressed hope that Bangladesh's youth will bring glory to the country at the upcoming Global IT Challenge in Vietnam. The top winners from the national competition will represent Bangladesh in this global event.

A total of 70 contestants participated in the competition across four categories: visually impaired, physically challenged, speech and hearing impaired, and Neuro Developmental Disorder (NDD). The top three winners from each category were awarded prizes, with the national champions earning the opportunity to compete internationally.
