Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni has stated that former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia chose Bangladesh as her only home and did not leave the country with her two sons during the previous regime. Moni made these remarks as the chief guest at a programme held to mark the publication of the book 'Sudhu Madhabir Jonno', written by Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Asaduzzaman. The event took place at the Jatiya Nattyashala auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
During his speech, Moni appreciated the book and highlighted Begum Zia's decision to remain in the country during the previous regime. He noted that the author had rightly emphasized this significant choice and expressed aspirations for protecting the country and democracy. Moni's comments underscored the importance of Begum Zia's commitment to Bangladesh.
Law Minister Asaduzzaman, the author of the book, shared his motivations for writing. He explained that he writes not merely to be an author but to express his inner feelings. 'I write to Madhabi, a fictitious name, about my everyday turmoil, sorrow, joy and the pain of being ignored and neglected. Whenever these feelings torment me, I write,' he said. His book has garnered a significant response in society, drawing attention to his literary and political contributions.
The event was attended by several notable figures, including Attorney General Md Ruhul Quddus Kazal, State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Choudhury, former BNP lawmaker Shirin Sultana, novelist, poet and filmmaker Sadat Hossain, and Advocate Shimul Parvin, founder-president of the literary and cultural organisation Protidhoni. The programme also featured cultural performances and was attended by poets, artists and other distinguished cultural personalities.
