Three Arrested in Narsingdi for Smuggling 92kg Cannabis in Oil Tanker

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested three individuals and seized 92 kilograms of cannabis concealed inside an oil tanker in Monohardi upazila of Narsingdi district.

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested three individuals and seized 92 kilograms of cannabis concealed inside an oil tanker in Monohardi upazila of Narsingdi district. RAB members conducted a raid in front of a grocery shop owned by Abul Kalam at Moishakandi around 1:30am today and intercepted the suspected oil tanker, according to a RAB statement. Narsingdi RAB Commander and Additional Superintendent of Police Md Ariful Islam confirmed the recovery and arrests.

An operational team of RAB learned that a large consignment of cannabis was being transported from border areas of Sylhet and Habiganj to Dhaka and adjoining districts, concealed inside the tanker of an oil-carrying truck. RAB members subsequently took position in the Moishakandi area and stopped the tanker. A search revealed 92kg of cannabis hidden inside the tanker in a specially designed compartment.

Three mobile phones were also seized from the arrested individuals. The arrested persons were identified as Amir Ali, 25, of Sridharpur village in Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj, truck driver Alal Khandaker, 35 and helper Monir Hossain, 30, both of Ghatura village in Brahmanbaria Sadar upazila. RAB handed the three over to Monohardi Police Station for legal action. A case has been filed with the police station under the Narcotics Control Act.
