Authorities in Rangpur have scored a major victory in their ongoing battle against drug trafficking with the arrest of a man carrying 394 Yaba tablets. The arrest was made by a team from the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) following a tip-off, resulting in a substantial seizure of contraband.

Details of the Arrest

The operation led to the apprehension of Md Bulbul Mia, 2, son of the late Abdul Hakim, from the Madhya Pirjabad Rahmatpara area. The arrest took place in the bustling metropolis of Rangpur, with the contraband seized at 12:30 noon. The man, along with the seized drugs, was handed over to the police for further legal proceedings.

Inspector S M Eltas Uddin of the DNC, Rangpur, filed a case against the arrested individual with the Kotwali Metropolitan Police Station of Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP). This action highlights the commitment of law enforcement agencies to root out drug-related activities within the city.

Significance of the Seizure

The capture of such a significant amount of Yaba tablets is a testament to the efforts of the DNC in combating drug distribution in the region. Yaba, a type of amphetamine, is known for its severe health impacts and addictive nature, making its circulation a major concern for public health officials.

This operation is part of a broader strategy to tighten the grip on illegal drug activities, which have been a persistent issue in Rangpur. The authorities' proactive approach in responding to intelligence and acting on tips has been instrumental in achieving this success.

As the investigation continues, the police are expected to delve deeper into the networks that supply Yaba tablets to the city, aiming to dismantle the entire operation behind the drug trafficking.
